Downtown Las Vegas casino owner giving away 1,700 free flights to jump-start tourism

As casinos in Las Vegas prepare to reopen, operators are trying to find ways to bring in tourists. One owner of two downtown casinos decided to give away free flights to Sin City as a way to jump-start the tourism numbers. Derek Stevens gave away a total of 1,700 flights, with players snatching them up as quickly as possible.

Free Flight Offer:

Stevens is the owner of The D Las Vegas and the Golden Gate located on Fremont Street. He began his free flight offer with just 1,000 one-way flights from 20 cities across the United States. These flights were taken in less than a two-hour time frame, so Stevens added around 700 more tickets by the afternoon.

The flights were made available across several airlines including Southwest, Sun County, Spirit, and Allegiant Air. The flights leave from major cities like Tampa, Boston, Denver, ST. Louis and Kansas City.

In a statement…

Stevens said: “We kne 7BALL w there was a high demand for Las Vegas, and to see these flights book as quickly as they did is overwhelming and exciting.”

As Stevens prepares to reopen in Las Vegas, his company is proud to help bring travel to the region as well as supporting airlines that have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. Stevens said he would love for patrons to visit downtown Las Vegas, but they primarily offered the deal just to get tourism back to the region.

Governor Steve Sisolak provided the order that casinos could begin reopening on June 4th this week. Casinos have been closed in the state since mid-March and many operators will be ready to get back to business once the June date hits.
