With the conclusion of the Mid-States Poker Tour Season 12 finale, the season has come to an end. The final tournament ended on Thursday with Masahi Oya claiming the first-place prize of the $1,100 no limit hold’em event. A total of 851 entries were seen during the tournament. At the end of the series, the Player of the Year award was handed out, this time going to Kyna England, as she was the top points earner for the year.
Player of the Year Award
Kyna had a solid year in the MSPT, competing in enough events and cashing out to earn the top finish in the points race. In second was Taylor Howard, just narrowly missing out on the win. Kyna earned 4,750 points for the year and Howard was behind at 4,058. Cy Church was back in third, close to Howard, with 3,925 points.
With the award win, Kyna became the first female to be named Player of the Year for the MSPT. She played in mostly low-stakes games before 2021 and private games while the pandemic was ongoing. Last year, she decided to compete in several events and ended the year with $749,000 in payouts.
The biggest win for Kyna came during the World Poker Tour when she competed at the Venetian in a $5,000 event. She ended up earning 4th place and taking home $448,755. In December, Kyna won the $1,110 MSPT Minnesota Winter Poker Open, earning just over $180,000 for the finish.
Claiming the Player of the Year award was a great way for Kyna to end the year on a high note, setting herself up for success in 2022.
